Keen Diagnostics
Our portable device allows the user to detect the SARS-COV-2 virus in saliva with ease, even in low-concentration samples.
Rapid SARS-COV-2 Detection
Our rapid SARS-COV-2 detection platform utilizes a novel electrochemical sensing method, streamlining universal saliva testing in a way that has never been done before.
User-Friendly
Collect saliva samples with a simple cartridge, plug into the device, and press start! No extensive training required. The screen automatically displays SARS-COV-2 Positive or Negative.
Affordable
The ability to manufacture components in-house provides time- and cost-efficiency. The device and replaceable cartridges will retail for a fraction of the price of our competitor’s products, while still meeting (or even exceeding!) performance expectations.
Portable
Our miniaturized test cassettes and electrochemical analyzer comprise a portable detection system that allows the user to test at any location without cumbersome equipment.
Low Maintenance
Potentiostatic device provides for a low maintenance measuring platform.
Our Value Proposition
Keen’s CoronaCheck will be the first at-home, over-the-counter COVID-19 test. The CoronaCheck will allow users to run multiple tests with disposable cartridges, providing users the ability to test entire families or repeat tests for individuals in the comfort of their home. Convenience is key; what makes our device easy to use is that it only requires a saliva sample. Unlike the 24-72 hour turnaround times of current test kits that require laboratory equipment, the CoronaCheck displays results within the hour.
Our Advantages
Our Dedication
Keen Diagnostics is dedicated to developing a unique electrochemical device to detect SARS-COV-2. Our mission is to save lives by providing a rapid, over-the-counter screening device. Being a platform device, we can adapt to testing a wide range of analytes to continue bringing safety to our loved ones beyond the current Covid-19 crisis.
JULIEN GOAVEC
CEOJulien Goavec is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Keen Diagnostics. He received a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Irvine. Along with being a technical founder in the biomedical field, Julien is a serial entrepreneur. He has created multiple businesses ranging from a Real Estate transaction platform called Micasa to a Youtube Channel called Butt Talks TV (Check us out!) before Keen Diagnostics. Presently, Julien is focused on Keen Diagnostics as they continue coming closer to commercializing the company's first minimum viable product.
DANNY TAN
COO Danny Tan is a University of California, Irvine graduate with a B.S in Material Science Engineering. His role has shifted from work on electrochemistry to planning scale-up manufacturing and setting up partnerships for law enforcement pilot programs. His previous experience centers around the testing and qualification of electrical components. Danny is committed to ensuring that all products developed follow regulatory guidelines, ISO standards, and all other relevant compliances.
DARWIN SALGADO
CTO Darwin Salgado is a biomedical engineer who graduated from the University of California, Irvine. He has been codeveloping the electrochemical detection platform within the Khine Lab working alongside Ph.D candidates: Julia Zakashansky and Amanda Imamura. Currently, he works as an Assistant Project Facilitator within the RADx initiative by the NIH at University Lab Partners assessing how applicants can de-risk and launch their products by their allotted timeline. Previously Salgado has worked as an R&D Engineer at a small developing diagnostic company where he designed and performed electrochemical experiments.
OREN SHOVAL
CDOOren Shoval is the chief design officer and co-founder of Keen Diagnostics. He received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Irvine, where he spent several years working in a BioMEMS lab, researching and developing microfluidic devices for rapid diagnostic systems. His main role at Keen is to establish design constraints and requirements for the device and cartridge system. Currently, he is focused on developing and prototyping Keen's first minimum viable product. Oren possesses a unique passion for innovating diagnostic technologies, particularly related to Lab-on-Chip and Lab-on-CD devices, and aspires to utilize this field of science to help engineer a better tomorrow.
AMANDA IMAMURA
Technical AdvisorUniversity São Carlos
Ph.D. Candidate (Chemistry)
Amanda Imamura holds a B.S. in Chemistry from University of São Paulo, #1 university in Brazil. Currently, she is a Ph.D. Candidate at the same university under the supervision of Dr. Emanuel Carrilho. Her research focuses on the development of low-cost sensors that potentially can be applied in the healthcare field. Amanda is specialized in analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, and paper-based microfluidic. In 2019, she was granted a full scholarship as visiting researcher at the Khine Lab, where she closely worked and guided the team. Since then, she continues to contribute to the Keen Diagnostics as a scientific consultant.
